Diwali or Deepavali is the festival of light, festivity and celebration. No celebration or festival is complete without sweets. However, it is better to make these sweets at home without any refined sugar to stay healthy even with a little bit of indulgence. During this auspicious occasion lets make sweets at home rather than buying from outside and share with family and friends. Here are 4 healthy homemade sweets recipes without any refined sugar.Please note that all these recipes are super quick to make. It just takes 15 minutes to any of these healthy sweets.
1. Coconut Jaggery Ladoo
Ingredients
- 2 cups grated coconut
- 3/4 cup jaggery or gur
- Some nuts and seeds
- Cardamom powder
Instructions
- Slightly dry roast the nuts and seeds
- In a pan, take 1 tsp desi ghee
- Add 3/4 cup jaggery and 3 tbsp water
- Heat this mixture on high heat initially
- Once the mixture starts to boil, reduce the heat to low and cook for a few more minutes
- Once this mixture thickens, keep it aside
- In a pan take 1.5 tsp desi ghee
- Add 2 cups freshly grated coconut
- Roast on low heat and stir continuosly
- Cook until it’s slightly brown
- Once this mixture turns slightly brown, add the melted jaggery syrup
- Add the grinded nut and seeds powder
- Mix everything well, mix until there is no excess moisture left
- Once all the moisture has disappeared, spread the mixture and let it cool slightly
- To make laddoos, grease your hands slightly, this will ensure that the mixture does not stick to your hands
- You can garnish your ladoos with pista seeds or coconut
Your Healthy Coconut Jaggery Ladoos are now ready!
2. Apple Coconut Burfi
Ingredients
- 2 large apples
- 1.5 cup grated coconut
- 1/2 cup jaggery sugar
- Some cardamom and cinnamon powder
Instructions
- Grate the apples and add then to a pan
- Add 1/2 cup jaggery sugar to the apples
- Mix and keep aside
- In a separate pan, add 2 tsp desi ghee
- Add 1.5 cup freshly grated coconut
- Cook on low heat until the coconut turns slightly brown
- Add the apple mixture to the roasted coconut
- Cook on low heat unitl all the moisture in the mixture is absorbed
- Add cardamom and cinnamon powder
- Transfer the mixture in a container and allow it to set
- Press and flatten this mixture with a spoon
- Sprinkle some roasted and chopped almonds on top
- Leave it to set for a few hours
- Once the mixture is set, cut it into pieces in the shape of burfi
Your Apple Coconut Burfi is now ready!
3. Rava Coconut Ladoo
Ingredients
- 3 tsp desi ghee
- 3/4 cup suji / rawa / semolina
- 1 cup freshly grated coconut
- 1/2 cup desi khaand
- 4 tsp malai
- 1/2 cup luke warm milk
- 1 tsp cardamom powder
Instructions
- Add 3 tsp desi ghee in a ghee
- Add 3/4 cup suji / rawa / semolina in the pan
- Roast the mixture on low heat until it turns light brown
- While roasting, make sure that you keep stirring the mixture
- Add 1 cup grated coconut to the mixture
- Add 1/2 cup desi khaand
- Add 4 tsp malai
- Mix everything well
- Now add 1/2 cup luke warm milk gradually to maintain the consistency
- Add 1 tsp cardamom powder
- Let the mixture cool slightly
- Make ladoos out of the mixture
- Add watermelon seeds on top of ladoos for garnish
Your Rava Coconut Ladoos are now ready!
4. Dates with Nuts and Seeds Burfi
Ingredients
- 350-400 grams dates
- 4 tbsp water
- 2 tsp desi ghee
- 1 cup grated coconut
- Cardamom powder
- Some sesame seeds
- Chopped nuts and seeds
Instructions
- Take 350-400 grams dates and remove the seeds
- Add 4 tbsp water in the dates
- Press down this mixture and leave for a few hours
- Dry roast all the chopped nuts and seeds
- Remove and keep these nuts on a plate
- Dry roast the sesame seeds
- Coarsly grind the dates (don’t make paste out of the dates)
- Add 2 tsp desi ghee in a pan
- Add 1 cup grated coconut in the ghee
- Add the roasted nuts and seeds in the mixture
- Add little bit of cardamom powder
- Add sesame seeds in the mixture
- Keep the heat on low while cooking
- Take out the mixture in a glass container
- Leave the mixture to set for a few hours
Your Dates with Nuts and Seeds Burfi are now ready!
You can keep these sweets and use them for upto a fortnight. Except for the sweet in which we added malai and milk which used be consumed with in a week.
