For all these recipes, you need to first roast the makhanas / lotus seeds. Roast the makhanason low heat and roast them till they become chunky.
1. Caramelised Flavoured Makhanas
Ingredients
- 1/2 tsp ghee (clarified butter)
- 1.5 tsp crushed jaggery (gur)
- 1 cup roasted makhanas
- 1.5 tsp sesame seeds (til)
Instructions
- In a pan heat 1/2 tsp ghee
- Add 1.5 tsp crushed jaggery
- Once the jaggery has melted, switch off the heat
- Add 1 cup roasted makhanas to the pan
- Add 1.5 tsp sesame seeds
- Mix quickly, until the makhanas are well coated
Your Caramelised Makhana are ready !!
2. Sweet Tangy Flavoured Makhanas
Ingredients
- Rock salt to taste
- 1/2 tsp amchur powder (dry mango powder)
- 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
- 1/4 tsp chat masala
- Red chilli to taste (optional)
- 1.5 tsp pure honey
- 1 cup roasted makhanas
- 1.5 tsp melon seeds
Instructions
- Take a bowl, add rock salt in it to taste
- Add 1/2 tsp amchur powder
- Add 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
- Add 1/4 tsp chat masala
- Add red chilli to taste (optional)
- Add 1.5 tsp pure honey
- Mix everything and make a paste
- In a pan, add 1 cup roasted makhanas
- On top of the makhanas, add the mixture prepared
- Switch off the heat and mix well
- Add 1.5 tsp melon seeds
- Mix until makhanas are well coated

- Some black pepper powder
- 1 cup roasted makhana
Instructions
- In a pan, take 1/4 tsp ghee or olive oil
- Add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- Add handful of peanuts and handful of roasted chana
- Add some sliced dry coconut
- Add salt to taste
- Add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- Add a pinch of red chilli powder
- Add some black pepper powder
- Add 1 cup roasted makhana

- Some rock salt
- 1 cup roasted makhana
Instructions
- Heat some rock salt in a pan
