Healthy Halwai style Moong dal ladoos

Healthy tasty Nutritious sweet, Special treat for Festive season. Its high in protein very nutritious and guilt free recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Moong dal flour: 1.5 cups
  • Desi ghee: ¼ cups
  • Desi khand: 1/3 – ½ cup (as per liking)
  • Milk khoya/ mawa: 3/4th cup(120g) OR
  • Doodh malai: 3/4 cup
  • Turmeric powder: 1/2 tsp
  • Some kesar (optional)

Directions:

  • Take a pan and dry roast moong dal on low to medium heat
  • Once it become aromatic start adding desi ghee gradually
  • Keep roasting and adding ghee in small amounts
  • Stir constantly to avoid getting burnt
  • After adding all the ghee, add turmeric powder for colour
  • Avoid using artificial food colour
  • Once the dal is nicely roasted and has changed some colour, add khoya stir khoya very well.
  • (You can use same amount of doodh malai in case you don’t find khoya. Use khoya for longer storage life)
  • Once Khoya is nicely mixed in the flour remove from heat
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes then add desi khand in the moong dal mixture
  • Combine and mix khand nicely
  • Once the mixture is cool enough to touch start making ladoos
  • Garnish with choice of dry fruits or saffron
  • Follow the same procedure to make the best ladoos be it Atta, Besan, Oats or Millets
  • You can make approx. 400-500g ladoos from the mixture
