Craving a healthy winter snack that’s easy to make? Try these Gur (Jaggery) and Chana Chikki bites! With just a few ingredients, this traditional treat is packed with protein and energy.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup roasted chana
- 1/2 cup jaggery (gur)
- 1 tsp ghee (Optional)
- 1 tsp Fennel seeds ( Saunf)
- Some coconut flakes
- Seeds of choice
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder (optional)
Instructions
- Slightly Dry Roast fennel seeds & Coconut flakes
- Transfer jaggery into a pan
- Place it on heat, reduce the heat lowest possible
- Sprinkle fennel seeds in the cavities of silicon mould
- Break Jaggery once it’s soft
- Stir continuously until the jaggery melts completely and forms a smooth syrup
- Add 1/4 tsp baking soda ( optional )
- Quickly add the roasted chana to the jaggery syrup. Mix thoroughly so that each piece is well-coated.
- If desired, sprinkle cardamom powder for additional flavor.
- Add the mixture into the silicone moulds
- Press down with hands or any weight
- Set for 15-20 min, than remove from moulds
Or - Grease a flat surface or a rolling board with ghee.
- Transfer the mixture onto the greased surface and spread it out evenly with a rolling pin to
- your desired thickness.
- Let it cool for 10-15 minutes, then cut into pieces while still warm.
- Allow the chikki to cool completely and harden.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 2-3 weeks.
